Back to the Mat

My classes are starting again next week and I thought I'd let you know what they all are! This photo is of me on the day I qualified as a yoga teacher, with my fellow student teachers, back in 2016. I'm front left!

I have a British Wheel of Yoga 500 hour Level 4 diploma in teaching yoga, which I achieved after two years of studying and teaching as a student teacher.

General Hatha Yoga classes

General Hatha Yoga Classes - I teach three a week, and these really form the basis of absolutely everything I do.

You don't have to be bendy and calm to do yoga - I started attending classes because I have tight muscles, stiff joints and a tendency to stress out! I don't follow a particular Guru or style, my classes are slow and we get chance to feel and breathe our way into yoga poses before we move on.

We finish by exploring breathing techniques and with a fabulous relaxation session.

My classes are on Zoom as well as in person so that people from all over the world can join in!

Pregnancy Yoga

These classes are as much about building a community of women as practising yoga!

We explore techniques that can help with pregnancy-related aches and pains and anxieties, as well as positions and techniques that are useful for birth - whatever type of birth you end up having.

Women can also choose to share what they're going through, which can be invaluable! This class is also available on Zoom.

Postnatal Yoga

Yoga for you, and baby comes too!

Babies are not expected to be perfectly still and quiet, we work around their needs and support each other.

Yoga classes that are safe after your six week check, designed to build strength, ease out aches and pains and help deal with stresses and anxieties. Best of all, I make everyone a cup of tea and clear it up again afterwards.

Children's Yoga

These classes are fun, frivolous and creative!

The aim is to get children moving and finding their own inner calm.

No competitions, no 'best yogi', no standards to meet, no assessments to pass.

Sometimes I go in with an idea of what we're going to do, and sometimes the kids take over. It sounds like it could be chaos, but we all work together and learn from each other. And yes, they do all lie down quietly for relaxation at the end of class.

I run three school clubs and am just about to start a public kids' club on Tuesdays, 4.30-5.30 at Boxmoor Primary School.

Children's Yoga and Relaxation Books

I self-published my first book in November 2020 and now have a total of 10 titles (two are in French and one is in Ukrainian!)

I couldn't have written these if I didn't teach and practise yoga.

They have been improvised in classes, tried and tested on children and adults, and put together by myself.

As a result of my first Chair Yoga adventure, I was commissioned to write a Chair Yoga Phonics Book for Reading Planet: Rocket Phonics. The Musician's Mission has just been published!
